It may be Blue Monday on 21st January but there are LOADS of exciting things to look forward to in 2019! Here's a selection of awesome events you can get involved in - no matter where you're based in the UK.
Event: The cinematic release of Toy Story 4 and The Lion King

What to expect: Enjoy a family afternoon to the cinema this summer with the release of the much-anticipated children’s animation, Toy Story 4, and Disney’s Live Action version of The Lion King.
Event: Macmillan Cancer Support World’s Biggest Coffee morning
Hosted by: Macmillan Cancer Support

Where: All around the country by volunteers
What to expect: Macmillan Cancer Support invite you to host your own coffee morning to raise money for those who are living with cancer. It is known as World’s Biggest Coffee morning because, all around the UK, people will be hosting their own morning from schools, work and at home. Expect coffee, cakes and a relaxed time with friends and family, all for a good cause.
Event: The Big Smarty Pants Quiz

When: Thursday 7th February 2019, 6.00pm – 9.00pm
Where: Park Plaza Hotel, Leeds (LS1 5NS)
What to expect: Heart Research UK invite visitors to a night of quizzing, with food, drink and lots of fun. Visitors are asked to fill a table of 8, which can be made up of friends, family or colleagues. See Heart Research UK’s website for pricing.

When: Tuesday 19th – Saturday 23rd February 2019
Where: Children’s Adventure Farm, Altrincham
What to expect: I Can Do It is a week of interactive learning and fun for children which will focus on social skills, independent living, personal goals and safety at home and online. It is funded by BBC Children in Need and is a great course for children to make new friends, grow their confidence and learn new skills.

Where: Temple Newsam, Leeds
What to expect: Enjoy a winter walk with your canine companion in Leeds this February, with a selection of a 1, 3 or 6-mile routes. There will be stalls for dog treats and accessories as well as drinks, food and fundraising for the people attending. It is FREE to join, but you must register before the event to receive a free goody bag and certificate for your dog.
Event: Macmillan Cancer Hopes and Dreams Charity Ball
Hosted by: Macmillan Cancer Support and 104.7 Minster FM
When: Saturday 8th June 2019
Where: York Racecourse, from 6.00 pm
What to expect: You will be welcomed in style to their elegant evening with an Oscar-style carpet, paparazzi photographers and arrival drinks. Prepare for the three-course meal, live entertainment and music throughout the night, including their headline act, Nathan Grisdale, all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Event: Tough Mudder Half Yorkshire

Where: Broughton Hall, Skipton, Yorkshire
What to expect: Situated in the dales of Yorkshire, this is a team event that takes place across a 5k course. Bring a spare change of clothes and prepare to get muddy, then relax with your friends and family at the selection of local food and drinks stalls. Event: Great North Run

Where: Newcastle – South Shields
What to expect: The Great North Run is a half marathon that proudly celebrates the North East of England. Aired live on the BBC, the 13-mile course takes you from Newcastle city centre to the South Shields coast. The run is open to anyone who is 17 years and over, but everyone must apply for a place. It is £56 to enter.
Event: The One Ball, Manchester

Where: Hotel Football, Manchester M16 0SZ
What to expect: Attendees of The One Ball can expect an entertaining evening with music, fundraising raffles and prizes, all taking place in the Hotel Football which overlooks Old Trafford football ground. Tickets are £55 each or can be purchased collectively for a table.
Event: The Children’s Hospital School Leicester 70th Anniversary Gala Dinner!

Where: National Space Centre, Leicester
What to expect: Guests at the Anniversary Gala can look forward to a three-course meal, fundraising activities and exclusive access to the National Space Centre exhibition, including a show in the planetarium. Event: Birmingham Gung-Ho!

When: Saturday 27th April 2019, 9.00pm – 3.00pm
Where: Crofton park, Birmingham
What to expect: The Gung-Ho! course features a 5km stretch with a whole range of huge inflatable obstacles. Whether you’re new to 5km running or an experienced athlete, you are welcome to attend. Friends and family have free entry and are encouraged to attend! See the Gung-Ho! website for prices.
Event: Celebrity Charity Football Match 2019
Hosted by: Walsall Football Club, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and Sellebrity Soccer

Where: Walsall FC, The Banks's Stadium, West Midlands
What to expect: Guests at this football match will see some of TV’s most recognised faces battle it out to win the Celebrity Charity Air Ambulance Cup. The list of the announced celebrities can be found on the website and includes names such as Stephen Graham, Jake Wood, and Alex Beattie. What to expect: At the Midlands Tough Mudder expect an action-packed 5km mud course with over ten obstacles that will require your best teamwork skills. Event: East Midlands Fun Weekend and Dog Show

Where: Swadlincote, Derbyshire
What to expect: Situated in a park in Derbyshire, this fun weekend invites dog lovers and families out to meet a range of animals and to look around the stalls. There will be fun dog shows throughout the day and an area to meet the animals in addition to food and drink stalls, crazy golf and raffle prizes.

Where: Old Down Manor, South Gloucestershire
What to expect: Prepare for the elegant scenery of the Old Down manor and the stylish guests, with a black-tie dress code and a glass of prosecco on arrival. There will be music from a live band throughout the night, as well as a raffle and auction where you can win prizes and raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. When: Saturday 16th February 2019, 6:30pm – 10:30pm
Where: Earl Mortimer College & Sixth Form Centre, Leominster
What to expect: Guests can expect to hear songs from the best loved musicals, including The Lion King and Matilda; enjoy refreshments with friends and family and take a chance at the raffle after the concert. This event is held in aid of Motor Neurone Disease, so it’s all for a good cause!
Event: Gung-Ho! Chester 2019

Where: Chester Racecourse
What to expect: Prepare for the fun, inflatable and giant obstacle course that Gung-Ho! are renowned for. This course is 5km in distance, and is open to a range of abilities from 5km running beginners to athletes. A wrist band, t-shirt and headband are included with your ticket. Event: Race for Life Telford 5k

When: Sunday 2nd June 2019
Where: Telford Town Park, Telford
What to expect: A supportive, non-competitive race to raise awareness and money for people affected by cancer. The course takes place on pavements, crossing grassy areas in some parts, and is open to people of all ages and abilities.
Event: Simplyhealth Great Bristol Half Marathon

When: Sunday 15th September 2019
Where: Bristol City Centre
What to expect: This thirteen-mile course offers remarkable river and harbour views of Bristol before leading you into the city centre. Music and refreshments will be at multiple points along the course creating an atmospheric crowd to cheer you on and keep you hydrated! The event is open to anyone over the age of 17 and is £40 to enter.
Event: Concert in Aid of the Mayor’s Charities

When: Saturday 2nd February 2019, 7.00pm
Where: St Botolph's Church, Colchester
What to expect: Visitors to the concert can anticipate an evening of music from the Colchester Bach Choir and Orchestra. The proceeds of the concert go to the 6 Mayor’s Charities including Action for Family, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and Essex Wildlife Trust. Tickets and prices can be found through their website.
Event: Explore Havergate Island
Hosted by: The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB)
When: First Saturday of every month, starting Saturday 2nd February 2019. 10.00am – 3.00pm
Where: Orford Quay, Suffolk
What to expect: Visitors can expect a peaceful boat trip from Orford Quay to Havergate Island, which they will have the chance to explore for the day. Depending on the time of year you attend, you will see a different variety of birds and wildlife around the island. RSPB recommend booking in advance, and to dress in warm clothing and strong footwear. Visit eventbrite for ticket prices.
Event: St Elizabeth Hospice Midnight Walk 2019

Where: Trinity Park, Ipswich
What to expect: The St Elizabeth Hospice host their midnight walk in memory of loved ones and this year they invite you to get your brightest leg warmers out with their ‘Rewind to the 80's!’ theme. Participants must be aged 10 or over, and those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. You can choose between a 6 or 10-mile route and prices can be found on their site.
Event: The Great British Dog Walk

Where: Ickworth Park, Horringer, Bury St Edmunds
What to expect: The Great British Dog Walk at Ickworth Park is a fun family event that includes a sponsored walk, tea, cake, and the opportunity to meet a hearing dog and see how they have changed a deaf person’s life. Adult tickets are £10 on the day and free for children!
Event: Family Fun Mud Run

What to expect: A very muddy and fun family challenge, where you will be jumping, crawling and running up obstacles to get to the finish line. The course is a distance of 3km and all the family can attend.
Event: Do Your Own Thing with Heart n Soul

Where: Royal Festival Hall, The Clore Ballroom, Level 2
What to expect: The Do Your Own Thing event is open to young people with learning disabilities, where they can take part in creative sessions on digitals arts, music and dance. Heart n Soul are passionate about making arts and culture accessible to children with learning disabilities. Live music and radio is performed by DJs and is British Sign Language interpreted. FREE admission, recommended for ages 5+.
Event: Sing for a Cure ‘This is me!’ Show

Where: Chequer Mead Theatre, East Grinstead, West Sussex
What to expect: Attend the matinee or evening performance of the Sing for a Cure Show to enjoy a selection of songs from different genres. The team includes leading singers, a band and a choir that were especially formed for the 2019 show. Open to children and adults, it is a joyful event for all the family. Tickets are £16 for adults and £14 for children.
Event: Virgin Money London Marathon

What to expect: The London Marathon is a great physical running challenge with a course of 26 miles. There are huge crowds that offer great support and encouragement, creating a renowned atmosphere across the city. Months of training will be involved for its participants who will be fundraising for their chosen charity.
Event: The Moonwalk: Breast Cancer Charity Night Walk

What to expect: The Moonwalk is a night time charity walk to raise money for breast cancer. Choose from the full marathon or half marathon courses and take part in this year’s bra decorating theme of Disco Inferno. You will receive a range of merchandise, hot food, entertainment and a medal on the night – all for a great cause!

Event: Bournemouth Pier to Pier Swim

What to expect: Raise money for the British Heart Foundation with this open water challenge which invites you to brace the English Channel and swim 1.4 miles from Bournemouth to Boscombe Pier.
